Post & Beam Chapel
This example of a 14th century 'Zvonitsa', or bell-chapel, was completed in January of 2004 for the Russian Orthodox Church of the Dormition, in Cumberland, Rhode Island.  Archpriest Vasily Lickwar, Rector.

We greatly appreciate Father Vasily and his parish giving us the opportunity to design, construct, and install this unique structure.  7 bells will be installed prior to Pascha.

For the design, we took advantage of studies documented in the fine book, 'Wooden Architecture of Russia' by Yelena Alexanderovna Oplovnikova, and her Father, Alexander Opolovnikov.

All wood for the structure, except for the cupola shingles, is preassure treated pine.

The cupola is an internally and externally accurate reproduction from drawings and cutaways, of a 14th century cupola, with steam bent cedar shingles, copper rain shield, and pressure treated cross.

We are more than willing to discuss any requirements that you may have, to build variants of this structure, including the addition of floors, walls, windows, doors, and an iconostas.

We will quote accordingly, including installation, per the client requirements.

We complete all design and construction here in our shop, and then dissasemble,  transport and install such structures nationwide.
